Marilyn is a vice-dean in the Usask College of Medicine. She was the provincial department head for psychiatry and has worked as a psychiatrist treating pregnant and postpartum women with mental health issues for many years.
"I want to participate in Sanctum Survivor 2020 to understand more deeply the challenges faced by homeless people, some of whom I have worked with over the years. Seeing life from this perspective, even briefly, will help enhance appreciation and support for a safe haven like Sanctum. Keeping pregnant moms safe through Sanctum 1.5 is a practical way to significantly invest in two lives – mom and baby. I am also eager to raise awareness among my physician and allied health colleagues and learners of the needs of many of their patients, often in the most dire times of their lives."
