I feel very grateful that I can cycle to work every day in just over 15 minutes. Living in Victoria, I'm able to do this all year long!
However, I usually just stick to commuting. I don't spend as much time as I would like simply going out for a ride for pure enjoyment.
This October, I'm making a commitment that's good for me and good for the planet: I'm asking you to give $1 for every day that I ride my bike for at least 31 minutes. All proceeds go toward helping Sierra Club BC defend nature and confront climate change.
I'm committing to ride to and from work every day in October plus add something new: a ride on Saturdays and Sundays. October is one of the most beautiful months for riding my bike, with turning leaves in rich colours and a crispness in the morning air, so I really have nothing to lose (and you should sign up too!)
Riding a bike as my primary form of transportation means we can be a one-car family. This saves us around 4.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year... not to mention a lot of money!
Alone, though, my individual actions can't make a dent in climate change. Working together collectively is the only way we can make a big difference. Help me take it to the next level by supporting Sierra Club BC mobilize British Columbians to confront climate change and move toward a post-carbon economy.
Thank you for your support!
