Help Send a Kid to Music Camp!

Campaign Ended Aug. 21, 2019

This year, 18 senior students in Sistema Toronto have been selected to attend the Interprovincial Music Camp (IMC) this summer at Camp Manitou on Manitouwabing Lake in Ontario for one week in late August.

This program offers:

  • A once in a lifetime opportunity to experience overnight summer camp for at-risk kids
  • Opportunities to learn leadership skills and independence
  • Time exploring nature, away from the city
  • The opportunity to meet new friends
  • The chance to hone their music skills with lessons from expert musicians and orchestra rehearsals
  • Preparation for their high school auditions later in the year

The 18 students selected for IMC this summer are all incredibly deserving and highly accomplished young people, all of whom would never otherwise have the opportunity to attend a camp of this caliber. Attending a high-level music camp can be a transformational experience for young musicians, opening hearts and minds to inspiration and establishing new professional connections for fledgling careers. These students have worked hard at their musicianship skills year after year at Sistema, and are admired leaders among their Sistema peers. We are thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to advance these students’ skills and give them a real camp adventure for the first time, and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who is able to contribute to help fund this important artistic experience.

Help us reach our goal of $15,000. Your donation will help us provide this opportunity for our senior students, with impact that will last a lifetime!

Sistema Toronto is a social development program that uses ensemble-based music education to transform the lives of at-risk children. Sistema Toronto students work together for 10 hours of weekly instruction during the school year where they learn strings (violin, viola, cello, or double bass), percussion, choir and Music & Movement while developing important life skills like problem solving, empathy, and self-advocacy.Through music education, we build stronger communities by enabling at-risk children to overcome poverty, grow and thrive as engaged citizens and future leaders.
