The Sistema Spirit Gala is an event held each year to bring together supporters of Sistema Toronto and lovers of live music in support of at-risk communities. Initially a grassroots initiative by the Parkdale parent committee, the event has grown into an annual celebration and fundraiser for Sistema Toronto. Held at The Spoke Club in downtown Toronto, the 2018 gala raised over $27,000. The event continues to grow thanks to the 250 guests who attend each year and the sponsors that help make the night possible. All of the proceeds from the Sistema Spirit Gala help bring more students into Sistema Toronto and ensure the programming comes at no cost to participants’ families.

Guests to the Sistema Spirit Gala can expect a party! There will be live music and guests will be invited to explore the silent auction and enjoy beverages from Georgian Bay Spirits and Hogtown Brewers, and hors d’oeuvres from The Spoke Club.

Tickets are $75 and include food, beverages, and performances. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the ticket price in accordance with CRA guidelines.

About This Charity

Sistema Toronto provides musical and intellectual opportunities to children in vulnerable communities, with the goal of transformative social change. We work with 275 students ages 6-13 in neighbourhoods with some of Toronto’s highest child poverty rates – Parkdale, Jane-Finch, and East Scarborough. Sistema Toronto students learn together in orchestras, percussion ensembles, and choirs while developing important life skills like problem solving, empathy, and communication. We provide students with instruction with professional musicians, instruments, performance opportunities, and a daily nutritious snack all at no cost to participants’ families. We build stronger communities by enabling at-risk children to overcome poverty, grow, and thrive as engaged citizens and future leaders.
