$50: Buffalo Hide for Traditional Indigenous Teachings
Through our Respond to Racism program, artist Joely BigEagle-Kequahtooway and the Buffalo People’s Arts Institute share traditional teachings about the Buffalo, conducting community hide-tanning workshops and teaching participants to create jewellery using beads, parfleche, and buffalo leather. Your gift of $50 can purchase a buffalo hide to be used at a project session. Through an immersive, hands-on experience participants become uniquely involved in their understanding of traditional teachings, as well as taking part in discussions that support cultural sensitivity and awareness of indigenous histories.
The descriptions above are of tangible investments that we make in order to run our programming.
