New Bookmobile Campaign!
South Interlake Regional Library
After 18 years it's time for us to get a new Bookmobile!
The library needs to raise another $200,000 towards the anticipated $400,000 it will cost for a new bookmobile. We've been planning the replacement ever since we got the current bookmobile so we already have almost $200,000 in the bank.
Will you take up the challenge and go the extra mile?
The idea for this campaign started when the library Board Chair, Wendy Rutherford, planned a trip to Spain to do an 800 km walk. She was doing the walk as a personal challenge but she also wanted to do some good too so she decided to make it a bookmobile fundraiser. As her plans came together the campaign grew and she decided to not only walk herself but to challenge all the local schools, groups and individuals to also walk and raise funds. You don't have to walk 800 kms but go the extra mile, set up a fundraiser and support the campaign to get get a new bookmobile!

About the Bookmobile
South Interlake Regional Library has been providing library services since 1967 and we've had a bookmobile since day 1! On the road from mid Sept to mid June, the bookmobile makes 32 stops over a 3 week cycle. It visits early and middle years schools in our catchment area including the schools on 8 of our local Hutterite Colonies, numerous seniors homes, daycares and community halls. For many people the bookmobile is their only access to library services. In 2017 the bookmobile served over 13,000 patrons and circulated almost 35,000 items! The services it provides have always a been a huge part of library service in our community and the usage of it continues to grow! It has always been, and continues to be a great way to promote literacy and life long learning!
