The knee bone connected to the leg bone,

The leg bone connected to the foot bone,

The foot bone connected to the ankle bone

We all know the children’s song well….  More importantly we know that without these bones, and more importantly the joints holding them together we wouldn’t be able to live the active and rewarding life we live.  As we age, work hard, play sports, or sadly suffer from an accident or trauma to these areas we are thankful for modern medicine and our extremely dedicated Orthopedic Surgeons at UHNBC who bring life back to these worn out or traumatized parts of our body.  For many it is a whole new lease on life.

Because so many in the region continually fight pain every day awaiting their turn in the surgical cue we are excited to fund raise this year for four Orthopedic O.R. Video Towers.  These will replace the two current towers that are 10 years old and at end of life and add two additional video towers that will allow an increase in the volume of patients that can be served in any given day.  The need for arthroscopic surgery is increasing rapidly and without new equipment is almost impossible to keep up.  Moving to a 4k or high definition system will provide crisper and well delineated images that are true to the color of the patient’s anatomy.  The will results in faster, safer, less invasive surgery which will lead to better patient outcomes and faster recovery times.

This year we have once again teamed up with Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation in supporting the purchase of equipment for UHNBC.  We hope you will join us in making this a reality for our healthcare region.

So the song continues …

the neck bone connected to the head bone,

the head bone connected to …. Our hearts!

Thank you for considering a gift to make a difference right here at home in the north, where we live, work, and play.
