The Ujima Fundraising Committee is supported by TAIBU Community Health Centre and exists to plan, coordinate and implement fundraising activities and other supports to assist individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease, as well as their families. Our Committee was established to try to fill gaps in funding for individuals with SCD who often need emergency financial support.
The UJIMA Sickle Cell Patient Emergency Fund is intended to serve individuals living with Sickle Disease who have experienced an emergency requiring immediate need for financial assistance. Eligible emergency situations include: not being able to pay for medication, at risk for losing housing, food insecurity and unpaid hospital bills. The aforementioned emergencies happen more often than there are resources available - we are here to fill that gap.
