For many Black femmes and folx, investing in self-care and pleasure is near impossible especially when funds are severely limited at this moment. With support from The Amy Project, The Femmepire Care Collective is fundraising to assemble complementary wellness and pleasure kits filled with comforting treats and resources for those who may be struggling to get through the day. We would love to organize as many kits as our resources allow, but our current goal is to assemble 50 packages split evenly between Hamilton & Toronto. We hope to break down barriers around self-care and preservation for Black femmes and non-binary youth in specific.
As an alumnus of The Amy Project, Kit Mai, founder of The Femmepire, intends to use the resources and lessons gained through The Amy Project’s programming and internship in order to provide mentorship to members of The Femmepire Care Collective. Our goal is to centre community-building and care work as a way to uplift the most marginalized folx who have the least access to resources and are also susceptible to harm.
All funds will be used for purchasing resources that cannot be donated and/or purchasing resources from Black-owned businesses, cost of travel to deliver the care packages, and packaging materials. Any excess funds and resources will be donated to organizations that have been doing the work of caring for our community.
If you are a brand that is interested in donating resources, email email@example.com. You can find our wishlist of goodies at thefemmepire.ca/bewell.
Another way to support is to circulate this initiative within your community and help us connect with folks that may be interested in contributing donations. We are so appreciative of the community care and support that we are receiving.
