Bring History to Life for the Next Generation
At the Museum at Campbell River, we believe in the power of storytelling, particularly when it teaches us about our past. Our Historical Puppet Theatre performances offer a unique, engaging, and educational experience that brings local history alive for our youngest museum-goers. Through captivating puppet shows and interactive craft activities, we teach children about the human history of North Vancouver Island—how people lived, the challenges they faced, and the events that shaped Campbell River.
Puppetry is a magical and accessible medium that captivates children’s imaginations. Our performances cover a variety of topics:
- Life without modern conveniences
- The story of the Japanese fishing boat Soyokaze
- The dramatic blowing up of Ripple Rock
- Early logging and shipwreck stories
Each show is crafted to not only educate but to spark curiosity and encourage deeper understanding of both the past and its relevance to the present and future.
By donating to the 2025 Puppet Theatre Campaign, you will:
- Ensure these valuable performances continue to be offered during the 2025 summer
- Keep the program accessible to all, especially young local families
- Help embed an appreciation for heritage and history in the next generation
