The No Child Turned Away project was started in 2017 because the child population in our wonderful community has exploded and resources to support young families haven't kept up.
Our organization's highest priority right now is to stop turning children away at both sites by expanding our programs. In 2016, almost 1,100 children living in this community attended our programs. Many were turned away on days our programs reached capacity. This has to change.
We ambitiously piloted a program expansion at our Kimbourne site from January to April in 2017. It was amazing! On Mondays and Fridays during the pilot period, we did not turn away a single child at our Terry Fox and Kimbourne sites. With both sites operating concurrently, we can make sure no child finds themselves outside a locked door. We implemented the expansion again from October 2017 to April 2018, supported entirely by donations, with the same great results!
The NO CHILD TURNED AWAY project continues through the cold winter months of 2018, supported in part by proceeds of our most recent gala - PROM NIGHT. WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP to carry the project through to November and December 2018 and into 2019.
All donations are put straight to work for children. Donations of $100 or more will be recognized on the Wall of Gratitude at our Kimbourne site.
