A diagnosis of kidney disease can have a devastating effect on patients. Risk of depression is higher among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and kidney patients who are on dialysis. In fact, rates of depression are 3 times as high in adults with end stage renal disease compared with the general population. Depression can take the joy out of life, and make patients feel like there is no hope.
Anxiety, anger, worry, and stress are often the side-effects of living with kidney disease every day!
Between now and Giving Tuesday on December 3rd, you’ll meet Mauro, Ava, Melinda, and Ariel; four courageous people who have struggled with the hidden scars of kidney disease.
“I have a lot of doctor’s appointments, and that is stressful and exhausting. It is a lot to handle and to take in.”Ava, 13-year-old Kidney Patient
It is vital that we let them know they are not alone by showing our support.
