COVID-19 Response in Ottawa

Campaign Ends Sept. 30, 2020

The Ottawa Food Bank has been working with its network of 112 agencies to address the current crisis in Ottawa. Our most significant need right now is financial donations to be able to purchase the food needed and deliver it across the city. Here are the issues we are facing right now in our community:

  • Vulnerable families can’t afford to stock up food for days. With your help, we will ensure they have enough food for as long as they need it.
  • With schools closed for the foreseeable future, your gift will help families provide meals usually received at school.
  • For those with compromised immune systems and the elderly who are vulnerable to the virus, your gift will ensure we can get food to them.
  • Many fundraising events have been cancelled to avoid transmission. This is lost donations that would have kept food on the tables of those who need it most. Your gift will keep our shelves stocked for anyone who many need food during this stressful time.

We are working with many partners to do home deliveries to those with mobility issues or who have compromised immune systems. Although we have been providing food for over 35 years, we continue to adapt and change to meet this ever changing crisis.

We know the economic affects of this crisis will be felt by our community for months to come. We need your support to ensure there is food for everyone who needs it. Whether that is to support the 39,000 people who turn to an emergency food program every month, or the thousands who will turn to a food bank for the first time in the coming weeks, your support ensures everyone in Ottawa is taken care of.
