This Diocese currently serves approximately 78,000 Catholics in 43 parishes and missions combined; and 7 schools.  Our mission as the People of God here in the south-eastern corner of British Columbia is the same as for the People of God everywhere.  It is contained in the words of the prayer that Jesus gave us, the Our Father.

This diocese provides religious education, facilities and opportunities for children and adults to grow in faith, to support and direct the work of 44 parishes and missions, and 7 independent schools, There are approximately 140 full time employees of which 7 work for the Roman Catholic Bishop of Nelson charity. The charities include assistance to independent schools, education of clergy, adult education, teaching of catechism, religious education, retreat houses of prayer, marriage counselling, contributions to the third world.
