Toronto Zoo GivingZOOday : Atraumatic Extraction System

Campaign Ended Nov. 27, 2018

The giving season is the most wonderful time of the year. Kick off your giving season with Giving Tuesday, a day where communities, organizations and individuals focus on giving back to those in need. This year, the Toronto Zoo is participating in Giving Tuesday once again with #GivingZOOday. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for a brand new piece of dental equipment called an iM3 Vet-tome Atraumatic Extraction System for the Wildlife Health Center.

*** Update:  Thank you so much for everyone's support with this campaign! As we approach our goal, we just wanted to mention that if we surpass our goal, any donations we receive will go towards equipment to be used in our Wildlife Health Centre. For example: $600 can get us Grasping Forceps for Colonoscope and Gastroscope, $1,000 can buy us a Rigid Laparoscope, and $6,850 can get the Toronto Zoo a Fluid Warming Cabinet. All these pieces of equipment will allow us to continue to provide the fastest and best care to our animals, and continue to be a leading zoo in animal care and research. Please give generously today!***

From now until November 27th, 2018, help the Toronto Zoo in its conservation efforts by donating to this year’s #GivingZOOday Project: Atraumatic Extraction System.

Toronto Zoo Wildlife Staff perform dental work on our animals on a weekly basis to check up on their oral care and maintain their health. The iM3 Vet-tome Atraumatic Extraction System is a major advancement in tooth extraction that greatly reduces extraction time and saves bone. The Vet-Tome is an automated periotome with foot pedal operation that offers precise tooth extraction with minimal or no alveolar bone loss. This piece of equipment provides easier tooth removal than using a regular dental elevator. This means more rapid socket healing and a quicker operation, minimizing the duration and risk of anesthesia.

With your donation for a new Atraumatic Extraction System, we will continue to be able to provide the fastest and best care to our animals, and continue to be a leading zoo in animal care and research.

Your #GivingZOOday donation will support conservation and research efforts at the Toronto Zoo, so please give generously today!
