We are the Vancouver Children’s Choir, operated since its founding in 1983 under the dedicated and visionary guidance of Mr. Rupert Lang. The choir has brought their voices to a wide variety of famous spaces such as Coventry Cathedral in England, St. Peter’s in Rome and Carnegie Hall, New York. In 2015 the choir represented Canada at the Rhapsody! Music Festival in Vienna, Salzburg and Prague. In 2016 and 2017 the VCC has performed with Fretwork in collaboration with Early Music Vancouver; participated in various fundraising concerts. The choir also took part in the blockbuster hit “Wonder” which was released by Lionsgate Pictures in November 2017!
The VCC is planning a return to Italy in July 2018 for a 12 day international choir Tour. The VCC will share their song to audiences in age old cathedrals and magnificent venues in Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Assisi.
Our overall budget for this tour is $85,000 - which includes performances at historic venues in Tuscany, Italy, as well as air travel, accommodation and food.
We are seeking sponsorship so that all children who auditioned and tirelessly prepared for the tour can participate, regardless of their family’s circumstances and income level.
This tour will provide a lasting legacy to the Vancouver Children’s Choir. The children will bring their experience back to Vancouver both in what they learn and in song. They will in turn become mentors to others who will join the choir. Chorus America’s recent study found that singing in a chorus - such as a community, school or church choir - is strongly correlated with qualities that are associated with success throughout life. Over our choir’s own thirty-year history, we have found that a tour experience of this kind is pivotal to children’s overall development: socially, emotionally, and scholastically.
It is only generous corporate donations like yours that enable children to experience these amazing opportunities, which are fundamental to developing to their full capacity.
We have immense gratitude for any donation you may wish to make.
