Support Artistic Development and Residencies at Toronto Dance Theatre
Toronto Dance Theatre (TDT) remains steadfast in our commitment to nurturing artists. At the heart of our mission is a dedication to supporting independent artists in their practice and career development. This winter, we're excited to continue our journey of curiosity, exploration and innovation through our unique programming at the historic Winchester Street Theatre.
Our Programs:
EYES ON BEGINNINGS:
This works-in-progress series allows artists to present 10 minutes of new material, in an informal sharing while receiving valuable audience feedback—an essential step in refining their work.
PILOT EPISODES:
In its fifth year, "Pilot Episodes" offers choreographers a platform to experiment and collaborate with TDT’s company ensemble. It provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities that have led to creators' realization of their first full-scale production.
PLUG-N-PLAY RESIDENCIES:
These week-long, half-day residencies offer artists studio space at no cost, providing adequate space and time to refine their ideas without financial stress.
ENTRYWAVES (in Partnership with CanAsian Dance):
New this year, "EntryWaves" provides six fall residencies to artists of the Asian Diaspora, offering free rehearsal space to amplify these voices in contemporary dance.
SPECIAL PROJECT RESIDENCIES:
We're hosting two unique residencies this year: "Tri-City Ballroom Project" is a creative exchange that draws upon the connection of vogue and kiki ballroom artists across Canada, facilitated by Danah Rosales. TDT is continuing an initiative to support artists with technical residencies, offering space and resources to develop lighting and sound design and technical crew services geared towards works in development. This season’s residency features "Niswa," a full-length creation by Meryem Alaoui of Jasad Dance Projects.
SLIDING SCALE:
TDT offers “Pay What You Can” classes and performance tickets, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of participation.
Why We Need Your Support:
Raising $10,000 is essential to continue these programs that drive artistic innovation and career development.
Your contribution supports:
Creative Spaces: Providing free or affordable studio spaces.
Mentorship & Collaboration: Connecting artists with the resources and guidance they need.
Diverse Voices: Amplifying underrepresented artists, particularly through EntryWaves.
By supporting Toronto Dance Theatre, you are investing in the future of dance, creativity, and cultural enrichment in our city. Your donation will have a lasting impact on the artists we serve and the dance community. Help us reach our $10,000 goal to keep TDT a thriving incubator and hub for risk-taking contemporary dance.
