Mission Statement (a) to accept abused, neglected, unwanted, stray, seized, or injured animal to the shelter (b) to rehabilitate, train, spay or neuter (of age) and socialize any animal so as to enable each to be acceptable to society (c) to promote and generally encourage responsible pet ownership and animal husbandry (d) to promote spay and neuter of all pets.
Rehabilitation is the KEY. Spay or Neuter is the SOLUTION. Turtle Gardens starts each dog in basic clicker training. Clicker training is a no-force positive, motivational method of training. Whether the dog is 7 weeks or 7 years, behaviour is changed. Why? Because the clicker allows the trainer to quickly and easily communicate to the dog what behaviour is liked. The dogs learn to learn and are happy to work, happy to work towards becoming a loved family pet. Their ears are up and their tails are wagging. They learn to offer new behaviour to see what gets them a treat. They learn to think. These great dogs are then ready for new, loving adoptive homes.
About HANDSONFUR/ formerly TURTLE GARDENS SPAY NEUTER SOCIETY AND ANIMAL RESCUE/SHELTER
