In Lunenburg County, there are many marginalized and vulnerable people that due to poverty or unique circumstances are unable to participate in a world connected via the internet and therefore benefit from all the opportunities, information and support that this world could provide.
Many of these people could benefit from the ability to have a secure e-mail address, connect to mentors, participate in support groups via social media, look for employment, do research, stay in touch with family and friends and a host of other online activities that have the power to change their lives.
The United Way of Lunenburg County has put together a process that will allow us to accumulate, assess and distribute smartphones and on occasion laptop computers free of charge to select organizations in Lunenburg County. These organizations include; Employment Solutions Society, Freeman House, Harbour House, Schools Plus and Second Story Women’s Centre.
The smartphone collection and repair is donated by local businesses and volunteers.
WE need help purchasing the charging cables and the occasional screen. Charging cables are $10 each or 10 for $100.
