As many of you know, I volunteer for Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter. Back in 2001 I became frustrated reading one news story after another about violent and often deadly attacks on women by their male partners. It made me angry and I wanted to do something. Luckily, I found an organization that offered a way for men to assist via fundraising. I've been a volunteer now for 16 years.
Every year, VRRWS helps hundreds of women and their children who are escaping violence by offering them a safe haven and all kinds of critical assistance.
May 28 is their main fundraising event of the year, the Fundraising Walk in Stanley Park! And as I have for all these years, I'll be participating. I'd love to set a new record for funds raised to support this group that does such vital and important work.
If you can, I hope you'll pitch in something to this great cause. Thanks!
