This year, we’re bringing back our Plant a Daisy, Plant Hope campaign to support at-risk children and youth in Ethiopia. When you donate during the campaign, you’ll receive a FREE daisy seed packet as a thank-you for planting hope with us.
The Vulnerable Children Society (VCS) is a registered charity in Canada that partners with Ethiopian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to support at-risk children and families through targeted programs. In 2026, our goal is to help ensure the sustainability of our partner programs over the long term.
Our primary partner is Real Humanitarian, which operates the VCS Love & Hope Centre. Located near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Centre welcomes 70 bright and eager students every day after school. They enjoy a hot meal, get help with their homework, tend to the garden, participate in sport and club activities, and explore the arts. Best of all, they hang out with their friends!
If we meet that financial commitment, surplus funds will be directed toward Hope for Children in Ethiopia, which runs the New Life Girls program. This year-long program helps teenage girls find a way out of the commercial sex trade. It gives them a safe place to live and life skills training, and provides them with vocational training – hair dressing, food preparation, or sewing. Most importantly, participants get a chance at a new life.
Daisies symbolize purity, innocence, joy and new beginnings – what a perfect flower to represent the young people we serve, and the result of our donors’ support.
Established in 1939 in York, PEI, Veseys Seeds is a leading vendor of seeds and bulbs across North America. This independently-owned company is also a long-time VCS supporter, and has generously provided daisy seed packets to us at a discount to help us reach our fundraising goal.
