John 3:16 is probably the most well-known Bible verse in the world. It says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Every year in December, millions of people around the world gather to exchange gifts, celebrating the love of God in giving the greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ. It is because of this love shown to us that we love others, and respond to their needs with the love of Christ. This is why Watoto exists; to share the love of Christ with people and to meet them at their point of need. People like Arthur and his mother Ritah.
When Arthur was three years old, his father abandoned him leaving him alone with his pregnant mom, Ritah. She desperately struggled to make an income to support them and send Arthur to school. Watoto responded by ministering to their family’s spiritual and physical needs. Ritah now works for Watoto full-time, and Arthur attends a Watoto school where he receives an education his mother could have only dreamed of a short time ago. We’ve helped 476 Neighbourhood Children gain access to a quality education. These are children of our Neighbourhood Mothers, who may not have had the opportunity or resources to send their children to school.
God sees and knows everyone by name, no matter how bleak the circumstances. He is using Watoto and the generosity of people like you to change the lives of women like Ritah and children like Arthur.
One by one, life by life, we are making a difference. This Christmas, would you consider showing your love by giving, as God gave to us? Every gift, no matter how large or small, makes a tremendous difference in transforming the lives of women and children and in turn, a nation for the glory of God. Your generosity enables us to continue this great work of reaching out to the poor and oppressed with the hope and love of Jesus.
Thank you, and may God richly bless you this Christmas!
