Covid -19 hit almost exactly on our 30- year anniversary, and we’ve never experienced anything like it. It effectively cancelled school and public programs between March and June 2020 with a revenue loss of $35,000, (about 23% of our overall revenue). However, we can mitigate this, with the strong supportive measures from the Federal Government and budget adjustments. Our concerns are for our recovery in Fall 2020. We were already impacted with this year’s budget reduction fears and actualities. Now our AGLC casino fundraiser has been delayed by at least four months, we expect schools will be scrambling, service agencies will be in terrible shape and the general public will be reeling in an economic depression making our earned revenue virtually nil. We need bridge funding until we have the new normal we all expect and hope for.
Our programs, like "Courage Journey" which focus on the power of puppetry arts for supporting mental health and wellness for students, vulnerable sector, seniors and many others will be needed now more than ever*. Our online programs using puppetry to learn core curriculum and have creative fun will be exceedingly useful to educators who are trying to re-group and remote learners. We would love to be able to offer these programs at a nominal cost to those who need them most, when they need them most. No less significant, our facilitators and developers who are contracted artists and therapists will need work.
Your donation will support us continuing our 30- year legacy and help us with our mission to present puppetry infused learning opportunities and performances inspire, challenge, empower, support expression and encourage empathy in our audiences and participants. Your donation of any size will be received with deep and heartfelt appreciation and you will know you are part of the solution.
