Animals are struggling to find relief from extreme heat and with worsening wildfire seasons, BC’s wildlife face a growing crisis. While there are ways in which you can help animals get through heat waves (www.wildliferescue.ca/2021/06/30/helping-wildlife-during-a-heatwave), donations help provide emergency medical care, critical for the recovery of affected animals.
Your donation today makes a vital difference for these animals.
“Over the last few summers, we’ve been seeing a rise in heat-impacted animals,” explains Jackie McQuillan, Wildlife Rescue’s Support Centre Manager. “This was never something on our radar a couple of decades ago. We get calls about baby gulls overheating on rooftops, baby bats on the ground after ejecting from overheated colonies, and many other animals struggling to find water and shelter from the sun during extreme heat events.”
“During wildfire season,” Jackie alerts “animals forced out of their natural habitats face life-threatening dangers in urban areas like Metro Vancouver, such as colliding with windows, conflict with humans, competition for fewer resources, and being at greater risk of predation by pets.”
Friend, please give today to help wild animals injured and affected by extreme heat and wildfires. Your gift provides these animals with the care they need to recover and be returned to the wild where they belong.
Together, we can ensure all wildlife has a chance to live and thrive in the wild.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
