Betty-Anne Howard's Camino del Norte Trail Walk in Support of Send a Kid to Camp

Campaign Ends May 1, 2020

Growing up in poverty in rural Ontario and fueled by her father’s illiteracy, Betty-Anne Howard became committed to higher learning and to philanthropy in her business and personal lives. A supporter of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, Betty-Anne understands the value of the recreation and learning opportunities they provide and suggests that had there been a YMCA in her area growing up, she would have benefited from learn, play and grow programs available to her.

Between April 24 and May 1, 2020, Betty-Anne will be trekking 125 km of the Camino Trail for her 64th birthday and in memory of her mother who passed away at the age of 64 without having been able to travel during her lifetime due to financial hardship. The goal of her journey is to raise $10,000 for the YMCA of Eastern Ontario to enable children in need with access to YMCA programs.

Betty-Anne Howard and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, Kingston, know that summer camp can be a powerful, positive, life altering experience and believe that every child should have the opportunity to attend regardless of their family’s financial situation.  Thank you for your donation which will help to send children in our community to YMCA Summer Camps.

Betty-Anne is a Planned Giving Consultant with Athena Wealth and Legacy Solutions, an accomplished author, a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and an active board and committee member. For more than 20 years, she has been guiding individuals, couples and families to realize their financial dreams. With her specialization in strategic philanthropic planning, she has been able to direct millions of dollars to the charitable sector while dramatically reducing taxes for those individuals she has assisted.

As a major supporter of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, most recently as a sponsor for the Peace Medal Award Breakfast, Betty-Anne is committed to providing opportunities for kids and youth.  She lives with her spouse and adopted golden doodle, Phoenix, on beautiful Bass Lake between Kingston and Ottawa.
