Located in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, Yukon, LePage Park is a hub for arts and culture performances and events. It is also in need of some TLC. The wood decking boards are weathered, tree roots have lifted the paving tiles, and the lawn has more dirt than grass. The Park was last renovated in the early 2000's. It has been over 15 years since then - LePage Park is due for a makeover!
The Yukon Historical and Museums Association (YHMA) is responsible for the maintenance of this public park through a 99-year lease with the City of Whitehorse, which also includes the three designated historic buildings surrounding the park. Our small organisation is aware of the important role that LePage Park plays to the arts & culture community, locals, Yukoners, and tourists alike. We want the park to be a safe and vibrant place where diverse performances and activities can take place.
This year, Phase One, YHMA will be resurfacing the central open area and the area between the stage and seats with recycled rubber surfacing, a durable, user-friendly, and eco-friendly substitute for traditional surfacing options. We have secured funding from the Lotteries Yukon Projects Fund for 80% of the project costs, but need your help to raise the remaining funds! If you feel that LePage Park plays an important role in your life and a vital role in our community, please support this project with a donation and spread the word.
All donors will receive a charitable tax receipt and have the opportunity to be recognized as a supporter on the YHMA website. Donors giving $1000+ will be recognized on a thank you sign in LePage Park alongside our funders and sponsors. Any funds raised above our goal will be applied to future phases of park renovations and maintenance.
