As a leading Canadian social enterprise with a 17-year history helping donors give charitably while helping charities raise funds for their cause, CanadaHelps is dedicated to supporting Canada’s philanthropic sector by helping charities raise funds for their critical work. We’re a hands on team ready to go the extra mile for any one of Canada’s 86,000 registered Canadian charities, and we truly embrace our motto: our cause is every cause. That is why today, we are excited to announce our newest Western Canada Charity Engagement Specialist, Derek Fraser.

A seasoned executive and respected philanthropic leader, Derek has worked and volunteered in Canada’s charitable sector for the past 30 years and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) who also holds a BA (Hons) from Queen’s University in Film Studies.

Previously serving as the national chair of the Association of Fundraising Professional’s (AFP) Canadian Council, Derek has worked with many community organizations in Calgary, Vancouver and the Niagara area including arts organizations, social services, professional association foundations as well as a selection of leading independent schools. Derek co-founded Purpose Philanthropy to help companies make strategic community investments, and he established iDophilanthropy, so he could work with non-profit clients to help them maximize their fund development capacity and enhance their philanthropic culture.

Throughout his career in philanthropy, Derek has been dedicated to a donor-centred approach to generate an impact in philanthropic success and is an expert in fundraising for charitable causes. We are extremely pleased to have him join the team to support Canadian charities fundraising online.

Focusing on assisting charities located specifically in Alberta, Derek will work alongside Paul Nazareth, Alistair Jackson, Jacob O’Connor, and Krista Stewart as part of our Charity Engagement team.
