Charities have been hit hard by COVID-19. In Canada, 1 in 5 Canadian charities have already suspended operations or stopped programs,1 and some have already closed their doors permanently. In the midst of adapting to the new normal, many charities are experiencing a higher demand for services while facing economic challenges and losses of critical funding due to cancelled fundraisers and other implications of the pandemic.
Now, with vaccination roll out, the future looks brighter but the fight is far from over. Whether charities are on the frontlines of the pandemic or providing other supports, charities are critical to Canada’s social fabric. They provide vital social services to children, seniors, and marginalized communities.
Your donation will be pooled with gifts from others like you to help hundreds of Canadian charities get through this crisis and continue supporting Canada’s social fabric. Your gift will help some charities transform their service model to invest in technology so they can adapt existing or create new programs to serve those most in need. Your support will help other charities keep their employees, volunteers, clients, and participants safe with training, education, new sanitation practices, and will purchase materials such as personal protective equipment or plexiglass barriers. Other charities will develop new strategies, collaborate with other nonprofits, and explore new ways of serving their constituents so they survive today, and through the remainder of this crisis.
Donate today to help Canadian charities survive and adapt to our new world. Plus, get a charitable tax receipt to qualify for tax credits!
The Fund includes 400 registered charities representing a diverse set of causes across Canada. The charities in this Fund were invited to apply and explain their needs and plans to adapt to COVID-19. Charities that met the criteria for the Fund were included on a first-come, first-served basis, up to a maximum of 400 charities.
