OUR WORK IN THE COMMUNITY

The Royal City Humane Society (RCHS) was incorporated as a non-profit association in 1994 and received registered charity status in 1995. RCHS was founded to deal with the pet overpopulation problem in New Westminster. We operate a shelter where we provide care for injured, stray and abandoned cats, as well we have more than 80 senior and special needs cats in foster homes. When they arrive, animals are tested for disease, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tattooed or microchipped. RCHS also provides feeding stations at various locations for feral cats that are trapped, tested for disease, spayed or neutered, and released back to area they were trapped.

OUR FOCUS

RCHS also promotes public awareness of animal welfare problems designed to further and ensure the fair and proper treatment of animals. As well, we are very committed to the mature cat population in the community and those with special needs. Several cats have been at the shelter for a number of years which, for various reasons — either because they are very timid, are older or have other issues — are overlooked by potential adopters.
