We work to combat hunger in Kingston in several ways:
1. Food Reclamation - we reclaim surplus perishable food from grocers, restaurants, farmers and caterers and distribute it to agencies that feed low-income people.
2. Food Access - we help to operate a farmers market in a low-income neighbourhood; we host the Acorn Donation Garden at Oak St. Community Garden.
3. Gardening Skills - we co-ordinate free educational gardening activities for both adults and children.
4. Community Involvement - we host Kingston’s Grow a Row campaign, encouraging everyone to plant a little extra for donation to local meal programs.
5. Community Kitchens - we run free community kitchen programming to help preserve some of the food we collect and to teach food preserving skills.

Loving Spoonful builds community around local food in Kingston & Area through it's Agriculture, Gardens and Community Kitchens programs.

Canoe for Change featuring Carol VandenEngel and Glenn Green!

Over three summers, Carol VandenEngel and Glenn Green canoed 8,515 kilometres across Canada. Everything from intense weather and bears to breathtaking landscapes and lovely strangers were part of their journey, following old voyageurs' routes. Their goal? To raise awareness about food security, and support for Loving Spoonful. We can't thank them enough!

They are now home in Kingston, but they continue to be dedicated to improving the quality of life for the millions of Canadians who live with high levels of food insecurity, poor health and social isolation. They continue to raise funds for Loving Spoonful on new support-raising adventures, and they are also open to speaking to groups about their experience and their cause.
