COVID-19 is affecting each one of us. Providing fresh, healthy food to those in need can be difficult at the best of times. In order to do our part to help this crisis, we are starting as much food production as possible in rare’s staff-led food bank garden, under very strict conditions. It’s disappointing not to start our gardening season as planned but until we know more about how the virus is spreading, a closure of the community gardens supports everyone in their efforts to stay home to protect themselves and others.

While we respond to safety restrictions and work within the limitations of the crisis, our goal remains to have the Springbank Food Bank Gardens run at full capacity. These gardens provide fresh, organic produce to those in our community who may not otherwise be able to access it. We are determined to continue to ensure sustainability goals at rare include making food security part of our conservation efforts.

You can fight the impact of COVID-19 on rare and the gardens with a donation of $19. Your gift will support the current seeding in our greenhouse and work in the garden, ensuring that healthy produce is available to the most vulnerable in our community.
