Our Branch has served the North Shore community since 1958 when a group of West Vancouver individuals organized a social club called the "White Cross" where adults with mental illness could meet, socialize and develop skills. This became the first drop-in center to be sponsored by CMHA in British Columbia.

While our current programs and services differ from those originally begun in 1958 our commitment to reducing recidivism rates and increasing the mental health of everyone in our community remains.  

Our current programs include individual advocacy, a weekly health lecture series, Volunteers in Partership - North Shore, ACHIEVE a planning and employment service, support groups, housing and public education.

With you, we help people find a sense of belonging and the tools to improve their mental health.

Help us provide safe supportive housing

The North Shore Alliance Church, VCH’s Health Connections clinic and the Canadian Mental Health Association North West Vancouver are launching a second Circle of Care group home. We are boldly opening a 5-bedroom house to move individuals out of shelter and into a safe, supportive space. We need to raise $32,000, and we have a private funder willing to match all donations to a maximum of $20,000. Every donation you make will be doubled!

What is Circle of Care? It’s our supportive housing model that incorporates a holistic view of health and wellbeing. We work collaboratively to provide mental and physical health care, and we help individuals develop meaningful community connections.  It’s an innovative partnership borne out of a community coming together on the North Shore.

Individuals who live in the Circle of Care model must have a mental illness diagnosis, a history of homelessness and be connected to the three organizations. There is a long list of clients waiting to get in.

Annual Expenses: $95,000 vs Annual Revenues: $63,000

Fundraising required: $32,000

Nous ouvrons avec audace une maison de 5 chambres pour déplacer les individus hors de l'abri et vers un espace de soutien sûr. Nous devons amasser 32 000 $ et nous avons un bailleur de fonds privé prêt à égaler tous les dons à un maximum de 20 000 $. Chaque don que vous ferez sera doublé!

Qu'est-ce que Circle of Care? C’est notre modèle de logement avec services de soutien qui intègre une vision holistique de la santé et du bien-être. Nous travaillons en collaboration pour fournir des soins de santé mentale et physique, et nous aidons les individus à développer des liens communautaires significatifs. C’est un partenariat novateur né d’une communauté qui se réunit sur la Côte-Nord.

Les personnes qui vivent dans le modèle du cercle de soins doivent avoir un diagnostic de maladie mentale, des antécédents de sans-abri et être liées aux trois organisations. Il y a une longue liste de clients qui attendent pour entrer.
