Out On The Shelf serves and engages members of the LGBTQ communities and their allies, providing support, education and resources.  

Out On The Shelf:

* is a volunteer-driven, community service organization that is an incorporated not-for-profit, registered charitable organization;

* provides LGBTQ-focused educational materials, fiction and non-fiction books, videos and music that can be used in the space or borrowed for home;

* educates our community on LGBTQ issues, history and culture, and combats homophobia;

* is a public space where the LGBTQ community in Guelph can gather, where people can drop-in, where small LGBTQ events can be held, and where new residents or people in search of information on LGBTQ resources can be assisted.

As Guelph's Queer Library and Resource Centre, we envisions a community that is strengthened by its diversity.

In celebration of Pride month, we at Out on the Shelf are launching a fundraising campaign! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our library has remained closed since March 2020. We've extended library membership and waived all fees, as we're unable to provide access to our fabulous collection of books, DVDs, and more. 

Once the library re-opens, we're hoping to celebrate by expanding our collection, focusing on books by and about LGBTQIA+ Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities. 

We're also focusing on increasing our capacity to provide programs and services that are accessible to all, including providing ASL interpretation for Guelph Pride events. 

Help us grow our collection, provide anti-oppression training for all volunteers, provide ASL interpretation and closed captioning for virtual events, and continue to serve the local LGBTQIA+ community in the Guelph and Wellington area.
