The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island is a charitable organization that focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the communities of Prince Edward Island.

It is a registered, non-profit body which provides a means for individuals, families, community groups, corporations, even private foundations, to support charitable activities and contribute to many diverse needs in Prince Edward Island communities.  As a registered charity, all qualifying donations are tax deductible.

For those who want to give something back to the community, the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island links those who can with those who need.

The Dr. Gerry Barrett DAPEI Legacy Fund was established by the Dental Association of PEI (DAPEI) in 2010 with annual granting in support of two key initiatives.

The Dr. Gerry Barrett DAPEI Legacy Fund Scholarship
An annual scholarship in the amount of $750 shall be available to a deserving student from PEI entering their third or fourth year of a Doctor of Dental Surgery or equivalent program at Dalhousie University, and who has a combination of achieving high marks and of being actively involved in volunteer activities at the dental school student organization or similar organization.  

Dental Treatment
The balance of the funds available for granting (after the scholarship has been determined) will be made available as a way to provide extensive dental treatment needed because of disease, accident or heredity available to a low-income Islander who has no other financial assistance.
