Brittaney Fraser-McCann Bursary

Brittaney Fraser-McCann was a graduate of the two-year Practical Nursing program at the Pembroke Campus in 2013. She began her career as a registered practical nurse at the Pembroke Regional Hospital quickly after graduating, taking a position on the rehabilitation floor and staying there until switching to the Emergency Department during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the years of Brittaney's nursing career, she developed a passion for medical aesthetics and landed her dream job in November 2020 at Hela in downtown Pembroke. Brittaney remained working at the hospital and Hela up until her death. She passed away on December 17th, 2021 after complications during her third endovascular coiling procedure to repair a brain aneurysm she had suffered in February 2021. She was 33.

To honor Brittaney, her love of nursing and medical aesthetics, Kristin Leitch; Co-founder of HeLa and Stephanie Hewitt; friend, have come together to create the Brittaney Fraser McCann Memorial Bursary. In doing so, Brittaney will continue to live on in the many students she will continue to help, as they strive to achieve their own nursing dream.
