The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) is the charity of choice for Canadian co-operators. CDF provides an important link through which Canadian support is channelled to the sustainable development of credit unions and co-operatives in less developed countries, and innovative small-scale co-operative ventures in Canadian communities. 

CDF works in partnership with the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA). CDF is the fundraising arm, and CCA is the program deliverer. Much of the money that finances CCA's international development programs stems from all donations to the Foundation. 

For every dollar CDF allocates to international development, an additional three dollars is leveraged from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Thanks to the generosity of The Co-operators, nearly 100 farmers in some of the most impoverished parts of Africa, have already been mobilized through CDF Canada’s Bicycle Pilot launched in January 2022. But there’s so much more work to be done! Imagine the impact we could have on communities by accelerating not only the delivery of more bikes but also their effectiveness, through purpose-built accessories better equipped to carry water, goods and people.
