Community Food Fridge

We are excited to announce the launch of a Community Food Fridge at the Cobourg Public Library.

It addresses three things: food access, food security and food rescue. Think of it as mini free library but instead of books it’s filled with fresh food! Folks can come by and grab food available in the fridge. We’ve passed our Public Health inspection and we are now offering food and accepting donations.

Per public health guidelines, we can only accept foods from inspected kitchens such as restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores and food banks. We kindly ask individuals to not donate leftovers, food prepared at home or produce purchased during your shopping. Folks wishing to help with the purchase of fresh food, prepared meals, dairy and other items for the fridge can make a monetary donation.

If you are associated with a restaurant, bakery, grocery store or licensed kitchen and you are interested in becoming a food rescue partner please email info@localfoodforlocalgood.ca.
