The Centre for Family Literacy provides a wide range of adult and family literacy programs in Edmonton, as well as training, resources, information and awareness across Alberta and Canada.  Working with numerous partners and community agencies, the Centre serves more than 6,600 Albertans every year.

Literacy is clearly linked to education, employment, income levels, health and involvement in the criminal justice system. There is also a tendency for low literacy levels to be repeated from one generation to the next.

Through family literacy programs, all parents – even those with lower literacy skills – can provide their children with the early language and literacy activities essential to success in school.  At the same time, parents often improve their own literacy skills through these programs and go on to other upgrading programs.

We help parents support their children’s early learning, their progress in school and  the parent's own literacy learning.

Make It Monthly

Your monthly donation of $25 will help purchase reading, writing, math workbooks and resources for our Literacy Resource Library used by learners and tutors in our Adult Programs.

Your monthly donation of $50 will provide 12 families with a complete set of books they need for our Family Book Club Kit and begin their journey on the magic of imagination through reading.

Your monthly donation of $100 will provide 24 families with a complete Family Literacy Kit and 4 quality children's books as they set goals to achieve life-long learning with literacy skills.
