ACCUEIL POUR IMMIGRANTS ET RÉFUGIÉS DU SUD-OUEST DE MONTRÉAL – CENTRE PRISME (AIR-SOM / Centre PRISME)is the result of a long period of consultation which began in 1988 and culminated in the establishment of the non-profit center in December 1991.
A working committee on immigration in LaSalle led the creation of this independent community organization. Organization who participated in this committee: Sault-Saint-Louis School Board, le centre de Travail-Québec, le Centre local de services communautaires CLSC, Douglas Hospital Community Psychiatry Center, South-West ACEF, Youth Consulting Offices, External Workforce Service, Relay and LaSalle’s Latin American Community.
Since its establishment, Centre Prisme has offered welcome and support services, socio-linguistic integration, early childhood services and assistance in finding affordable permanent housing as well as employment integration support.
MISSION
Guided by a passion to promote cultural diversity and social cohesion, AIR-SOM / Centre PRISME’s mission is to provide education and support services to immigrants and refugees in need, including language courses, labour market adjustment, translation services, drop-in daycare, information programs on culture and life in Canada.
