On June 2nd, 2017 our Dad died by suicide. That day and the years that followed were incredibly painful and heavy, and unfortunately introduced us to a large community of people that shared similar stories of loss. In a year where so many things are uncertain, we felt a greater nudge to do another fundraiser in memory of our dad in hopes of supporting Canadians everyday, but especially in an unprecedented year of financial, health, and familial stresses. CMHA is a non-profit organization that builds awareness and provides education and support for individuals and families living with mental illness, addiction, or a loss by suicide. They also work to bridge gaps in the mental health care system and facilitate access to important services and resources. Now more than ever, we are realizing the importance of such resources and the need for financial support in order for places like CMHA to respond to the increasing demand for services during the Covid-19 pandemic. We hope that by supporting places that are working towards a world where mental health is possible for all, we can help to change the ending of the story for a family like ours.
