Kanata Lakes Community Association Virtual Food Drive

These past ten months have been filled with new challenges that have touched everyone in our community. Donations like yours, help ensure over one thousand Kanata residents continue to have access to food every month throughout this pandemic.

Community support has enabled the Kanata Food Cupboard to:

Increase our supply of essential non-perishable items. We have looked to many of our local grocery stores to provide an increased stock to prepare for our future needs. We continue to use and replenish this stock faster than our usual rate.

Implement and continue an emergency pre-packed hamper model. With your support, we have the necessary food items to implement and sustain our pre-packed hamper model. We can provide families with staple food items, as well as fresh produce, meat, cheese, milk, and bread.

Since the start of the pandemic, the Kanata Food Cupboard and other food agencies have seen:

An increased need for our services. Many vulnerable families can’t afford to stock up food for days and others have come to us for help for the first time. We have seen an 11% increase in families accessing our services and a 27% increase in new families.

Our fundraising events cancelled. Things like food drives, community events and other fundraisers planned were activities we relied upon to help support us throughout the winter season.

Grocery stores having a hard time keeping their own shelves stocked and increase in food prices.  This will require us to rely more heavily on our own purchasing at this time.

Thank you for your support!
