Reading for Rideauwood

This year, I'm fundraising for my new charity of choice: Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services.

For every $100 raised, I will read a book cover-to-cover in 2021. (Book ideas welcome and I'll even send interested parties my reviews!)

Why Rideauwood? I truly believe in the work Rideauwood counsellors do and the approach they take to help people struggling with substance use, behavioural addictions and related mental health issues.

Compassion is at the heart of everything, and clients decide if they would like to take abstinence or a harm reduction approach to their recovery – there is no “right path”.

What I find particularly special and unique to Rideauwood is how the organization supports families and parents who have a loved one with an addiction. Whether or not the person with the addiction is ready to seek treatment, family members can.

I’ve interviewed a client who is in recovery, and I was so moved by her strength and resilience. I hope you will join me in helping people in our community reclaim their lives.
