5n2 Kitchens is a volunteer-run Scarborough charity. The charity transforms “rescue items” — such as unused breads, produce, protein and dairy products — into wholesome meals. They serve over 3500 warm, fresh meals every week across eleven locations, including food banks, shelters, senior's buildings, drop-in centres and apartment buildings, and they also supply much-needed grocery hampers to the more isolated members of our community.
Before COVID-19, 4.4 million Canadians experienced household food insecurity, including 1.2 million children. The pandemic has made this worse, and with the Scarborough community among the hardest hit by COVID-19, our community needs your support. Some food bank locations have seen a 53% increase in usage this year, and your gift will help provide them with uninterrupted access to food.
