My family has been involved with Youth Without Shelter, a 53 bed youth shelter in Toronto for a number of years. Many of you have likely seen my posts from annual Christmas Eve lunch we prepare for the youth.
The shelter has a Stay In School program which supports 20 youth that are either in high school or secondary school. Due to COVID and the reliance on virtual learning, the current laptops at the shelter, that were intended to complement learning, are not suitable for the level of use now required. Ensuring these youth have the right tools is critical to their success.
In order to provide computers that meet the demands of on virtual learning, Youth Without Shelter would need $12,000 to get upgraded computers. This is a large, un-budgeted expense, and so I am putting up $6,000 immediately, and am hoping I can raise an additional $6,000 from my personal network. Charitable receipts will be provided by Canada Helps if you are so inclined to help.
