R.I.D.E. For Smiles is a family-friendly, cycling fundraiser and community event designed to: increase awareness about facial differences; engage local communities to promote diversity and inclusion; and to encourage fun, active lifestyles. Funds raised will go towards supporting AboutFace youth programs, including Camp Trailblazers.

Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome! You can participate as an individual rider, as part of a family or workplace team, or pledge any one of our riders.

People with facial differences often experience staring, teasing, bullying and even workplace discrimination - help us promote awareness and create a society where people with facial differences are accepted and valued!

Fundraising: There are many ways to reach your fundraising goal: you can canvas for donations; have a bake sale; throw a party; or come up with your own creative idea. Throughout your fundraising campaign you will be raising awareness for AboutFace and individuals living with a facial difference. You will be able to easily set up your own personal fundraising page, receive donations online and track your progress towards your goal. If you would like to collect donations in person, please print off our RIDE Pledge Form

À propos de cet organisme

Living with a facial difference is something you can’t hide. It is a social disability that creates barriers to communication, socialization, education, employment and aspirations. It can be a very lonely and devastating experience. Affected individuals often face public ridicule, bullying, stares and unwanted attention, peer rejection, and social isolation. Unsupported these actions can sometimes lead to mental health issues. Our Mission is to promote and enhance positive mental and emotional well-being of individuals with facial differences and their families through peer and social support, information, educational programs, and public awareness. AboutFace provides interactive learning, support and social networks with peers who understand and teaches skills to help them manage and overcome the challenges so that they can live full productive lives.
