Aperçu

The BIG Pursuit is the primary annual fundraising event in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Red Deer and District.  Teams of friends, family or co-workers participate in an afternoon of fun, challenge and adventure as participants discover Red Deer in a way they never have before. Your team will work together through a series of clues and challenges that will bring you to ten locations throughout the city. Anyone can participate regardless of physical ability, age or limitations. This event is designed as a great team building activity as well as providing a great afternoon of fun and challenge for everyone.  Your registration fee of $25 covers the cost of your team shirts and food during the event and is required at time of online registration.  Your registration fee will count as part of your total pledges raised at the conclusion of the event.  Once registered you will also receive (delivered to designated Team Captain) a detailed information package outlining the event in detail. This package will include promotional materials, prize information and tips to raising pledges during the weeks prior to event day.  The package will also include pledge forms to be used by your team members for soliciting any pledges off line. 

Teams will be able to register online anytime from February 1, 2017 to the event date of April 23, 2017. 

  • The minimum suggested pledges to be raised per person is $200 ($25 registration and $175 in pledges)
  • Teams that raise $1,000 or more are rewarded with distinct advantages on event day. (pledging incentives are detailed in the team package)
  • The specific start and finish location of the BIG Pursuit will be announced in early April.

Détails

Simply get a team of four friends, family or co-workers together and register online.

  • Once registered your team captain will receive in person a team package complete with event information, pledge forms, promotional poster, prize information and tip sheet to start pledging.
  • The pledging campaign starts on February 1, 2017 and runs until event date on April 23, 2017.
  • A registration fee of $25 is required for each person. This fee covers the costs of team shirts and food.
  • It is suggested that each individual raises a minimum of $200/person (includes registration fee).
  • There are distinct incentive advantages for teams that raises $1,000 or more in pledges that will benefit the team on the BIG Pursuit date. (ie. any team that raises $1,000 or more will receive a "Fast Forward" that can be used at anytime during the BIG Pursuit). Details on other incentives and prize information will be in team packages.
  • Location for the BIG Pursuit to be announced in early April.
  • April 23, 2017 @ 11:00am - Teams arrive on location to turn in pledges, get team shirts and team packages including your team's first clue.
  • April 23, 2017 @ 12:00pm - All teams commence the BIG Pursuit.
  • April 23, 2017 @   5:00pm - All teams return to location for great food, prizes and entertainment.
  • No additional pledges can be credited to participants after 12:00pm on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

We are looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of areas on the BIG Pursuit event date Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Volunteer opportunities include event set-up and take-down, venue and checkpoint hosts, communications, count room etc.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Red Deer and District has been serving Central Alberta since 1976. The agency strongly believes in the value that a caring adult mentor can have on a child growing up. Programs include Community Based (traditional matching program of a child to a caring adult Big Brothers or Big Sisters), Site Based (includes in-school mentoring, teen mentoring and employer sponsored mentoring), Youth In Care and a variety of small and large group activities. There more than 60 children on a waiting list looking for a caring adult volunteer or mentor. "Start Something BIG" by becoming a mentor to a child.
