In December 2017, Ontario resident and father Colin Sanders is going on an exciting 4,000-kilometer solo rowing adventure across the Atlantic Ocean – a fundraising and awareness campaign we are calling A Million Possibilities: Solo Ocean Row 2017.

Colin is undertaking this incredible journey from the Canary Islands to Antigua to not only challenge himself, but to challenge people like you, to support our collective vision of a more inclusive Ontario and to make a real difference in the lives of people who have an intellectual disability and their families. He knows this challenge personally, because his son, Jeff, has physical and intellectual disabilities.

While Colin will be rowing by himself on the Atlantic, facing everything mother nature can throw at him, he will not be alone. He will be supported by a team of people across the province and around the world that will be sharing in this experience.

On Saturday, September 30th, 2017, the Haldimand chapter of Community Living will be hosting a one-day stationary rowing event with a goal to reach 100,000 oar strokes. This goal represents a mere 10% of the million strokes that it will take Colin Sanders to cross the Atlantic.

Teams of four will be challenged to achieve 500 oar strokes and raise funds in support of our shared cause.

Teams of 4 can sign up online for $20 each. Individuals can sign up and be placed with a team.

Teams may also collect pledges (If an individual reaches 100 strokes, for 16 cents per stroke achieved, pledged donation would be $20). You can download a pledge form from the following URL: http://clhaldimand.com/solo-ocean-row-2017-pledge-form.pdf
