par Cowichan Intercultural Society
After 35 years of growth in the Cowichan Valley, the Cowichan Intercultural Society is carrying out a capital building campaign to build a new Immigrant Welcome Centre for the Cowichan Valley, and this multicultural dance-a-thon will be our principal 2017 fundraising event. In celebration of the many cultures and diverse backgrounds in our region, we invite community members to register individually or as a team for this eight hour event filled with live multicultural music, family activities, vendors, cultural expos, and tons of fantastic prizes!
The participation fee for this event is $5 for individuals or $20 for a team of four. The participation fee allows access to the dancing area of the event for the entire day, entry into various raffles for great prizes, and light snacks and refreshments throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to get as many pledges as possible, through this online platform as well as traditional cash pledges, and all funds raised during this event will go directly to the capital campaign for a new Immigrant Welcome Centre in the Cowichan Valley. Participants who reach pre-set pledge levels will be directly entered into draws for prizes - the more you raise, the more chance you have to win!
The event will take place on May 13th, from 10am-6pm. Participants can dance as much as they want during the event.
A variety of multicultural musicians, dancers and performers will take the stage throughout the day, and each person/group will incorporate dance instruction into their performance, giving participants the chance to dance and learn at the same time!
Many incredible prizes will be distributed throughout the event to participants, including prizes for the top fundraisers and those who reach certain pre-set fundraising levels. In addition, there will be team-specific prizes and friendly competitions also!
