Tip a Fool is a gala fundraiser for the Citizens' Counselling Centre that usually happens annually on the Saturday night close to April Fool's Day.
It is an evening of fine food and drink, silent and live auctions, and celebrity fool-making and fun, in an amazing setting for a fabulous cause.
Local stars serve an elegant dinner while making Fools of themselves – all in the name of earning tips to support mental health in our community. Past events have seen chef-served dinners for 10 in the penthouse suites at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, the Regent or the Victoria Marriott – complete with live jazz and a very attentive sommelier on offer. Or there was the evening that the cap of the late Pierre Elliot Trudeau was auctioned off, or the parts in local movie productions going to the highest bidder. A Mayor juggling, the head of the Operatic Society tickling of the ivories, and local media personalities being paid to stop singing, have all inspired some healthy tipping. And then there was meat draw.
Over the past 10+ years, Tip a Fool has become a huge success, raising much-needed funds for the Greater Victoria Citizens' Counselling Centre. These dollars work very hard to provide quality, affordable counselling to anyone in Greater Victoria that requests it.
It is a lot of fun for a worthy cause and the Citizens' Counselling Centre is very grateful to the Victoria community for its support. We hope you'll come out and play with us!
