Tip a Fool is a gala fundraiser for the Citizens' Counselling Centre that happens annually on the Saturday night close to April Fool's Day.
It is an evening of fine food and drink, silent and live auctions, and celebrity fool-making and fun, in an amazing setting for a fabulous cause.
Local stars serve an elegant dinner while making Fools of themselves – all in the name of earning tips to support mental health in our community. Past events have seen Michelle Le Sage offer up a chef-served dinner for 10 in the penthouse suite at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel complete with live jazz and a very attentive sommelier. Or there was the evening that Susan Musgrave auctioned off what was said to be the cap of the late Pierre Trudeau, or Rod Hardy of the Victoria Film Commission offering bit parts in local movie productions to the highest bidder. Mayor Lowe's juggling, Timothy Vernon's tickling of the ivories, and Jack Knox's singing, or rather stopping singing, have all inspired some healthy tipping. And then there was Deanna Young's meat draw.
Over the past 10+ years, Tip a Fool has become a huge success, raising over $58,000 for the Greater Victoria Citizens' Counselling Centre last year alone. These dollars then work very hard to provide quality, affordable counselling to anyone in Greater Victoria that requests it.
It is a lot of fun for a worthy cause and the Citizens' Counselling Centre is very grateful to the Victoria community for its support. We hope you'll come out and play with us!
